Part 2 -Leading Voices in Affective Neuroscience and their Contributions to Clinical Practices

 

Presenting part two of a four part learning experience to provide the mental health clinician with a powerful learning experience for absorbing and applying the latest knowledge and skills from recent research and practice in affective neuroscience. Part two will present the work of some of the most important neuroscientists in the field today and how their work informs and deepens our understanding of what constitutes best practice in clinical work and why. This will expand the knowledge base of a mental health clinician and allow for more comprehensive and flexible application of clinical knowledge and skills. 

Leaders in the field of mental health acknowledge that we are now in the affective neuroscience era, and we all need to upgrade our knowledge base and skill sets in order to operate with current best practices.   • The work of Lisa Feldman Barrett and and applications to clinical work in terms of psychoeducation and theories of practice: CBT, psychodynamic, systems, solution focused, addictions counseling
  • Introduction to emotional granularity and developing better use of affective material
  • Application of material to clinical practice through scenario analysis
  • Wrap-up and questions
  • Integration of material from part two and consolidation of learning

Summary sheets for each of the key scientists and their important contributions will be provided as a handout to each attendee
